Olympia Arts MIAMI developed a prototype gallery window for our 2022 Street Galleries project featuring the work of Miami artist Monique Lassooij at 156 E. Flagler Street.
Street Galleries are vacant storefront windows turned into artist specific art galleries "...taking visual art to the streets" of the historic Flagler District of Downtown Miami. Olympia Arts MIAMI will formally launch our Street Galleries project in 2022.

Formed in 1993 by Cuban-born guitarist/composer Eddy Balzola. Oriente’s sound features funky, guitar driven tumbaos. brass, and Afro-percussion – fusing Cuban roots with Blues. Jazz, Caribbean and Brazilian influences. An explosive celebration of melody, rhythm and soul. Oriente debuted at New Orleans’ premier jazz club, Snug Harbor, to an audience accustomed to very funky, progressive music and Oriente's hard-driving yet melodic Afro-Cuban roots innovations hit the spot. That raw and organic music scene was an inspiration and continues to influence the band’s soulful sound & style, distinguishing them from any other Latin Jazz group.

Alto saxophonist Ian Alexander Muñoz, 19, is a junior studying Jazz Performance at The Juilliard School in New York City. The son of a Chinese/Scottish mother from Guyana, and a Cuban American father from Miami, Ian grew up experiencing multiple cultures and music genres. At the age of 8, he began playing the alto and soprano saxophone for his elementary school jazz combo. Ian has appeared alongside jazz greats such as Shelly Berg, Ira Sullivan, Javon Jackson, Ted Nash, Tim Warfield, and Bruce Williams. He is a five-time National YoungArts winner, the recipient of two DownBeat Student Awards, and a winner of of the prestigious Ella Fitzgerald award as top soloist at the 25th Essentially Ellington High School Jazz Band competition..
